Many professional athletes get routine treatments to maintain peak performance and reduce the risk of injury. There is good reason for this. Acupuncture & Dry Needling do more than just relieve pain. Treatment may also increase strength and flexibility, correct muscle imbalances, improve millisecond reaction time and generally improve the adaptability of the body.
Think about it. Whenever you have restricted range of motion, muscle imbalances or anything else that prevents your body from fluidly moving as an integrated whole, you aren’t going to be able to perform at your best.
We will check the stability and range of motion of your joints, strength of key muscles and ability to perform functional movement patterns. Limitations in any of these areas are often due to muscles that are weak or otherwise not firing properly. This may be due to an old injury, over training or other stimuli that can cause a muscle to become tight or shut down.
With sports acupuncture, we can “reset” these muscles. This can help restore strength, range of motion and maximize your body’s ability to recover and function. Many people, myself included, have seen significant strength gains or even set PRs following treatment.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”“I would highly recommend this to anyone. I was having trouble with excruciating pain and range of motion. After a few sessions my pain is gone and I have full range of motion. “

“I am a student-athlete at Syracuse University. I went to Matthew for help because of chronic issues in my hips and breathing (chest tightness), and he found the source of every issue. I am now performing my best at the collegiate level, and feel very strong. I highly recommend this to athletes who don’t seem to find the solution from typical physical therapy offered in your training room. I thought I had no answers to my physical issues, but I now feel so confident performing after treatment here!”

“I give Matt Reed my highest recommendation. I have had a great deal of trauma to my body in the 64 years I’ve been alive. Nearly 50 of those years I have been a career Martial Artist, which included fighting Full Contact, being punched, kicked, thrown, choked and joint locked, both in training and competition. In addition, in my early years I was an adrenaline junky, I rode Motocross, surfed the biggest waves I could find, and participated in amateur boxing. My boxing career was interrupted by a car accident, which left me with fractures in my upper spine and neck. Needless to say, I’ve been experiencing pain and stiffness most of my adult life. Finding temporary relief from chiropractic care. Last year I separated my shoulder slipping on the ice on my front stone steps.
My doctor and my PT both suggested Cortisone injection. I have gone most of my life avoiding surgery and steroid injections. My health is my most prized possession. I was referred to Matt by Jed Michael, a fellow Acupuncturist in the Ithaca area and graduate from the same school as Matt. The NuroFunctional acupuncture and Dry Needling approach Matt did to me was the ONLY thing that alleviated the chronic tendonitis in my shoulder and helped restore my functional strength!
In my humble, yet honest opinion, Matt Reed is a highly knowledgeable Medical Practitioner with a great mannerism and focus for his patients. I give Matt Reed and Orthopedic & Sports Acupuncture my highest recommendation. He is absolutely extraordinary. Yesterday I was on the mat, wrestling with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts and Brown Belts for one hour. Six weeks ago I could barely lift my arm past my shoulder.”
